Alberto Escamilla
Award-winning impressionist artist Alberto Escamilla is renowned for his delicately crafted oil paintings. His landscapes and gardens showcase the artist’s strong understanding of color. Heavily influenced by the European Masters to replicate the impressionistic style, he believes it offers the viewer a sense of beauty and tranquility. Using small brushes and taps of paint on the canvas he continually works on mastering the blending of colors, brush strokes, and subject matter. His versatility is further seen in his works throughout the years - still life compositions, florals, portraits, seascapes, and special commissions.
Born in Sanderson, Texas, Escamilla's interest in art began at an early age. Escamilla was invited to try out for the basketball team and enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso. Discovering that art education was offered as a degree, he decided to take a turn for what he wanted to pursue and thus began his life's passion. Escamilla started an in-depth study of the lives and works of the European Masters of the French Impressionists. Because he felt such a strong connection with the way these artists believed and painted, Alberto Escamilla focused on mastering their techniques, which gave rise to his experimentation with color. An award-winning artist, Escamilla was inducted into the El Paso, Texas Artist Hall of Fame.
