Ross Landers
Ross Landers was born in Hereford, Texas. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education. Landers taught art at El Paso’s Bowie High School in 1962. He went on to teach eighth-grade art at Ross Junior High School for the next eight years. In 1971, he was hired by Bluebell Wranglers Factory as a stylist, creating dress trousers and denim lines.
Ross worked for Zales International, which purchased Korotkin’s Furniture. So began Ross’s design career in earnest. Early clients recognized his emerging talent as a premier designer. In his spare time on weekends, Ross utilized his creativity and vision to design window displays for the Popular Department Store. 1975, he established Ross Landers Interiors out of his lovely and cherished Oregon Street apartment. As his business flourished, he moved into a larger studio on Stanton Street, then on Yandell Drive, and, finally, on Robinson Avenue, where he built his home. As a designer, he worked on projects locally, nationally, and internationally. He was highly respected in the field for his keen understanding of remodeling and new construction and his sharp eye for color.
