E. L. Boone
Elmer L. Boone painted southwestern landscapes and Mexican subjects in Texas, Arizona, and Mexico. He was born in Joplin, MO, and studied at the Smith School of Art and the Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for his landscapes, genre, figure painting, and commercial art. Boone moved to El Paso in 1927 and founded El Paso's annual Sun Carnival art exhibition. He earned his living by commercial art from his studio in the Electric Company Building. Boone was a member of the Far Southwest Artists Association and the El Paso Artists Association, with whom he frequently exhibited. His work can also be found in the Montana Historical Society, Helena, and Torch Energy Advisors, Houston, Texas collections.
